Records Division
The records division is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. The division is responsible for the filing and maintenance of all police records. The members of the division conduct record checks and issue handicap permits. In addition, the division assists with the filling of Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests and accident report requests.
You may purchase a copy of an accident report for $10. We attempt to have all police accident reports ready within 7 business days of the accident date. However, occasionally there are unforeseen problems with the report and or other correction problems. You may speak to a Supervisor if your report is not ready after 7 business days from the accident date. You may call or email the records division to make sure that the report is ready. If you do not want to pay the $10 fee you may make a FOIL request through the City Clerk's office.
All other requests for reports must be done through a FOIL request. These requests must be made through the City Clerk's office. Electronic copies of information are free. If you require hard copies, there is a 25-cent per page cost for FOIL requests to cover the cost of copying. The law allows the city to take up to twenty-one days to respond to a request for records. If you have further questions you can contact the City Clerk's office at 346-4166.
If you have any other questions, please contact a member of the records division by email or phone.
