The Recreation and Parks Department works year round to provide a wide range of safe and accessible recreational facilities and leisure time programs for participants of all ages. Whatever your interest may be, you can always find an activity or a special event to enhance your quality of life. Year round programs include: Basketball, Cheerleading, Community Center Programs, Gymnastics, Fitness, Karate, Pre-School program, Swim Team, Teen Programs, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, Drama, Music and Dance.
Special Events are hosted such as: Easter Egg Hunt, Holiday Camps, Concerts and Theatre Performances.
Summer Programs include: playgrounds at ten locations with special events, games, sports, craft wagon & bookmobile.
Swimming Pools are open during the summer months at Fancher-Davidge, Maple Hill & Sproat St. Parks. Swim lessons are offered at Fancher-Davidge Park.
Tennis Courts are at Maple Hill Park, with tennis clinics for both adults & children.
Sports camps for boys & girls from six to thirteen years of age; fees & schedules announced in the spring.
Little People Playtime at Academy Ave. Community Center for boys & girls from four to six years of age; fees and schedules announced in the spring.
Free Summer Lunch Program at eight playground locations. Program is available for six weeks to anyone under the age of eighteen.
Twilight Track & Field Program at the Middletown High School for all ages.
Summer Concert Series at Festival Square, featuring a variety of musical performances made possible by the Cultural & Civic Affairs, Business Improvement District, and Recreation & Parks.
The City of Middletown has thirteen parks available that can accommodate baseball, basketball, bicycling, cooking, fishing, football, horse shows, outdoor concerts, ice skating, jogging, picnics, playground activities, soccer, swimming, tennis, walking or just relaxing with the family or friends.
Reservations for park facilities can be made by calling our office at least thirty days in advance. Reservations for the picnic pavilions in Fancher-Davidge, Ben & Paula Amchir Park, & Maple Hill are accepted beginning in January to reserve for dates of May 15th through Oct 15th of each year. A small fee is required. Revocable Permits are also issued for other requested use of City park property. Tennis Courts can be reserved by calling our office.
