CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

PROPOSED BLACK DIRT SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENT

ATTENTION RESIDENTS, COMMUTERS, AND PEDESTRIAN IN THE VICINITY OF ELM ST., BONNELL ST., BONNEL PL., LAKE AVE., LIBERTY ST., CANTRELL AVE., AND CLEMSON PARK:

The City of Middletown has begun construction of the Proposed Black Dirt Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project. The Construction contract was awarded to Boyce Excavating, Inc. (Slate Hill, NY).

Construction activities began in February 2018 and work is anticipated to be complete by October 2018. Generally, the contractor is permitted to work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. However, some night time work will be necessary during this project. All night time shifts will be coordinated with the City.

Much of the project will be constructed on private property within easements obtained by the City of Middletown for the new sewer line. Boyce Excavating will coordinate with property Owners when work is being performed on their property and when work will affect access to homes. All private property will be restored to pre-existing conditions prior to construction completion.

Work in public rights of way (i.e. streets) will involve vehicular periodic traffic detours and flagging operations. Pedestrian traffic detours will also be required at certain times.

We regret the inconvenience, and appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to rebuild our City infrastructure.

Note:  Please note that it’s illegal to connect sump pumps, roof gutters, downspouts and stormsewer discharges to any Sanitary Sewers as this causes excess flows to our Sanitary Sewer System.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Commissioner of Public Works
