Recreation and Parks Department works year round to provide a wide range of safe and accessible recreational facilities and leisure time programs for participants of all ages. Whatever your interest may be, you can always find an activity or a special event to enhance your quality of life. Year round programs include: Special Events, Basketball, Soccer, Cheerleading, Community Center Programs, Fitness, Pre-School program,  Teen Programs, Tennis.

The City of Middletown has thirteen parks available that can accommodate baseball, basketball, bicycling, cooking, fishing, football, horse shows, outdoor concerts, ice skating, jogging, picnics, playground activities, soccer, swimming, tennis, walking or just relaxing with the family or friends. Reservations for park facilities can be made by calling our office at least thirty days in advance. Reservations for the picnic pavilions in Fancher-Davidge, Ben & Paula Amchir Park, & Maple Hill are accepted beginning in January to reserve for dates of April 15th through Oct 15th of each year. A small fee is require as well as a refundable $100 depostit. Revocable Permits are also issued for other requested use of City park property.

Special Events & Programs

Story Time Come Alive!
Story time come alive is a 45 minute session of interactive story time. You and your child will sit together and hear a story read aloud while being engaged with crafts, snack, and free play. Story Time Come Alive is held weekly on Thursday mornings from 10:00am to 10:45am. The cost is $5.00 per family/caregiver.

May & June Stroller Park Walks
Do you find yourself lookingo for way to get fit and spend some time with your little one? Allow yourself 45 minutes to enjoy the spring weather, network with other parents/caregivers, all while socializing with your child and excercising at the same time! Meet us every Tuesdayduring the months of May & June at 9:30am in the Lions Shelter at Fancher-Davidge Park. Weather-pending; call office or check our FB page for cancellations. 

Party in the Park
This FREE event is brought to you by the Middltown Recreation Dept. It will be held on Saturday, June 30th 2018 at Fancher-Davidge Park.
                         Event runs from 5:00pm to 7:00pm!

Live band will begin at 7:00pm and be followed by the City of Middletown Star's & Stripes Fireworks Spectacular Event at dusk. Concessions will be available for purhcase through Middletown's volunteer Fire Department's.


Cops & Kids Field Day
Join the City of Middletown Recreation Department & Middletown Police Department for our 'Cops & Kids' Field Day this Summer! Enjoy a day filled with food & fun!

Dog Park

The City of Middletown new Dog Park is located at Maple Hill Park supervised by the Recreation and Parks Department.  Please call 845-346-4180 with questions or concerns.

dogPark 01Hours of Operation:   8:00 a.m. to Dusk

(Hours of operation are subject to change at the discretion of the Superintendent of Recreation & Parks as deemed necessary)

    •  Park Users and Dog Owners assume all risks related to park use
    • The off-leash dog park does not permit children ten (10) years of age and under or dogs under four (4)    months old
    • Children from 11 years of age to 17 years of age must be under adult supervision at all times
    • Area A – Small dogs (30 lbs or less)
    • Area B – All dogs
    • Maximum of three (3) dogs per adult
    • Dogs must be spayed or neutered
    • Dogs must be licensed by the City of Middletown and up-to-date with vaccinations
    • A current license tag must be visible on each dog’s collar
    • Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the off-leash park area
    • Dogs are permitted to be off-leash in the designated fenced area only and the gates must remain closed
    • Owners/responsible parties must carry a leash and maintain control over their dogs at all times while in the park
    • Owners/responsible parties must clean up after their dogs and dispose of dog waste in an
      appropriate container
    • Dogs are prohibited from digging. Any holes created must be filled in by owner before leaving the park
    • No dog treats, human foods or drinks are permitted in the off-leash park
    • No animals other than dogs are permitted within the off-leash park area
    • Dog are not permitted on benches
    • Aggressive and/or threatening dogs are not permitted in the off-leash park unless muzzled and leashed at all times
    • Aggressive behavior, dog bites to person or dogs and/or other such incidents must be reported to the Recreation & Parks Department office at 845-346-4180 Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 343-3151 on evenings and weekends.
    • All other Recreation & Parks rules and regulations, as well as, all City of Middletown ordinances apply.

3 & 4 Year Old Preschool Program

Registrations for child to be enrolled in September of 2017 are being accepted. The prgram is for 3 and 4 year olds and emphasizes eye-hand coordination, socialization,creative play and kindergarten readiness. 

Classes are conducted Monday through Friday at the  Michael G. Perkins Community center. We offer either  a Morning Session from 8:30am to 11:30am and an Afternoon Session from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. 

The cost us $120 per month for Middletown Residents and $140 per month for Non-Middleotwn Residents. Monthly tuition is expected to be paid on time to avoid a late fee.

Skate Park

Middletown SkatePark 01 1The Middletown Skate Park is located in Erie Way Park at 1-31 Union Street, behind City Hall.

The skate park provides a safe, designated place for wheeled-sport enthusiasts (skateboarders, BMX bike riders, inline skaters, scooter riders and the like) to develop their skills, enjoy the company of their peers and allow enthusiasts to enjoy their sport in a confined, well-developed area.

The skate park is a state-of-the-art, based on the latest skate park design principles and constructed with high-quality materials to ensure durability and longevity.  The Skate Park features a mix of street and transition-style terrain, with elements designed for all age groups and ability levels.

SKATE PARK HOURS:  8:00 a.m. to Sunset

Rules and Regulations

  1. The City of Middletown and its agents are not responsible for any injuries. The Skate Park is UNSUPERVISED and a SKATE-AT-YOUR-OWN-RISK Facility.  Know your ability and Skate Accordingly

  1. ONLY Skateboards, In-Line Skates, Bikes (No Pegs) and Scooters ALLOWED. No Motorized Vehicles.

  1. Protective Equipment (helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, etc.) is strongly recommended to be worn at all times. Use of this park may expose the user to serious injury.

  1. No skating when surface is wet. Inspect skating surface before you begin and remove debris or objects that may prevent a safe ride.  Report any facility damage immediately to the Middletown Recreation & Parks Department at 845-346-4180.

  1. Park surfaces are NOT to be Altered or Waxed.Middletown SkatePark 02 1

  1. NO Food, Beverages, Gum or Smoking allowed in the Skate Park

  1. No Pets allowed in Skate Park.

  1. Abusive/Foul Language and Aggressive Behavior will NOT be Tolerated.

  1. All children under age 10 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

  1. Failure to adhere to Skate Park Rules & Regulations can result in loss of facility privileges and/or subject to prosecution in Middletown City Court for violating Skate Park Rules.
